The Waste Free School Program started in 2024 with a composting project at Fairhope High School. Since then, it has grown to encompass schools throughout Baldwin County, Alabama. The goal of the program is to educate students about composting, recycling, and waste reduction strategies.

LEARN ABOUT GOING WASTE FREE!
Fairhope Compost Project empowers Fairhope residents to decrease landfill-bound organic waste and improve soil quality using composting. FCP partners and volunteers—including community gardens, nurseries and garden centers, schools and daycare centers—will also create on-site examples of working composting systems and host workshops for local residents. The goal of the FCP is to start 100 new compost locations in Fairhope, including residences, businesses, and schools.
